Wired Differently is built by LogicLeap Ltd. This policy covers the Wired Differently iPhone app.

What we collect

No account, no sign-in, no analytics and no advertising. We don’t keep a copy of anything you type. If the app crashes, it sends us a technical crash report that contains nothing you typed (see Crash reports).

What you type

The guide’s replies and strategies are written by Claude, an AI made by Anthropic. So that it can reply, what you type (and what you tap) is sent over an encrypted connection through our server, which runs on Cloudflare, to Anthropic. Our server passes it straight on and stores none of it. Anthropic acts as our processor under its data processing terms, may process it outside the UK (including in the United States) under the UK’s approved transfer safeguards, doesn’t use it to train its models, and deletes it within 30 days unless a message is flagged in a safety review. Please use a first name or a nickname, and leave out surnames, addresses and anything else that identifies someone. The app asks you to agree to this before you start.

When a conversation ends (you tap Finish for now, start a new one, or leave it for 30 minutes), the app sends that conversation and the person’s current notes the same way, so Claude can update the notes. Our server passes them straight on and stores none of it.

The people you add (first name or nickname, age, gender, and anything you choose to add, such as a diagnosis or what you’d like help with), your conversations, your saved strategies and the notes Wired Differently keeps about each person (what has helped, what has been tried and what to follow up next time) are kept on your phone so you can pick up where you left off. You can read, correct or delete the notes at any time from that person’s page. Tap Clear everything on the first screen, or delete the app, to remove it all. We can’t see any of it or get it back for you.

Your IP address

Our server uses your IP address for a minute at a time to stop the service being overloaded. It isn’t stored with anything you type.

Crash reports

If the app crashes or freezes, it sends a technical report to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), which stores it in the EU (Germany) and acts as our processor. A report says which part of the app’s code went wrong, the app and iOS version, the phone model and a random number for this copy of the app, so reports from the same phone can be grouped. It never includes what you type, the people you add or their notes, and we use it only to fix problems. Sentry deletes reports automatically, after 90 days at most.

Calls and texts

The Get help now buttons open your phone’s Phone or Messages app with the number filled in. The app doesn’t record that you used them.

Why we can use it

What you type can include health information, which UK data protection law treats as special category data. We only process it because you agree to it on the “Before you start” screen (explicit consent), and only to write the replies you ask for. You can stop at any time; tap Start again to clear what is on your phone. As we keep nothing you type, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on request (your notes are on your phone, where you can read, correct or delete them yourself), but you can still contact us with any question or complaint, or complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

Wired Differently is for adults aged 18 and over. You can use it for yourself or for someone you support, including a child. If you’re describing someone else, share only what you need and use a first name or nickname.

Changes

If this changes, we’ll update this page and the App Store privacy details before that version is released.
